Golden nugget worth $50k found in car glovebox

A $50,000 gold nugget has been found in the glovebox of a car in Western Australia’s remote northern Wheatbelt.
Don Bell, 83, thought he had lost his valuable gold when he left it on the top of the boot of his car.
Police put out a desperate call to people on the Great Northern Highway in Wubin, 270km north-east from Perth, in hope someone may have found it on the side of the road.

Fortunately, he was reunited with his prized possession a few days later.
“The nugget has been found,” Dalwallinu Police said on Twitter.
“Big thanks to the wider community, the 83-year-old owner and his wife are very, very grateful, relieved and very happy.”

Where did Mr Bell find his golden nugget? Not on the side of the road, but in the glovebox.

Don Bell, 83, thought he had lost his valuable gold when he left it on the top of the boot of his car.

“I said ‘There’s a bag in there. What’s that bloody bag in there? What’s that bloody bag doing there?'” Mr Bell said.
“I pulled it out like that, there it was.
“Check the glove box people.”
